Shop owner dealt deadly blow

A man who allegedly killed his business partner, a foreign national, in Senekal was taken into custody in the small farming town of Arlington.


A man who allegedly killed his business partner, a foreign national, in Senekal was taken into custody in the small farming town of Arlington.

On Thursday, 24 October, at 06:30 a security guard who visited a tuck shop in Senekal saw a suspect running from the shop.

As he entered the business, he saw the 35-year-old Ethiopian citizen, the owner of the shop, lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Authorities were immediately called to the scene and the police found that the shop owner had suffered an open wound to his forehead, with and an iron rod lying next to his body. He was declared dead on the scene.

After conducting a search, the Senekal police were able to arrest a 21-year old suspect, also a foreign national, in Arlington for their investigation into the suspect’s involvement in the murder of his business partner at the Matwabeng-Tambo section tuck shop.

The suspect has been charged and is expected to appear in the Senekal Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 28 October, facing a charge of murder.
