The Dihlabeng Municipality has issued a warning, indicating that the entity is aware of people who unlawfully tamper with the valves of reservoirs.
“It has come to our attention that the Water and Sanitation Department in the Dihlabeng Municipality is under sabotage. There are people closing the valves of reservoirs to prevent water flow,” says Tshidio Maitse, spokesperson.
On Wednesday (02/02) municipal officials discovered that the valves of the old and new high reservoirs were closed.
Officials opened the valves to restore the water flow, but during an inspection later the afternoon, it was discovered that the valves had been closed again and that the reservoirs were empty.
“This is an act of sabotage conducted by those who want to destabilise service delivery. The valves for opening and closing the water at Birdcage Hill Reservoir were strategically cut off so that the municipality will not be able to open and close the water supply at this reservoir.”
The municipality encourages the public to report any suspects who may be guilty of these unlawful deeds to the law enforcement authorities or the municipality.
