As part of the restoration of human dignity through the land ownership programme, 101 residents of Rammulotsi, Viljoenskroon, received title deeds from the Moqhaka Municipality.
Residents had the honour to receive their title deeds from the executive mayor, Cllr Motloheloa Mokatsane.
On Friday, 10 March, excited residents of Rammulotsi received their long-awaited title deeds and are now proud owners of their property. Amongst the 101 beneficiaries was the 83-year-old Mookho Christina Botsane, who was overjoyed to receive the title deed for her own home.
Mokatsane said this is one of the programmes that seeks to redress the injustice of the 1913 Land Dispossession Act, in which the land was systematically taken away from black people.
In trying to fast-track title deed allocations, more than 100 residents of Maokeng in Kroonstad will also receive their title deeds soon. Residents who do not have title deeds are urged to apply, free of charge, at the Moqhaka Municipality Housing Offices in Kroonstad, Viljoenskroon, and Steynsrus.
The title deed event was held at the Tshepahalo Hall in Rammulotsi, Viljoenskroon.
