The Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (ProvJoints) has announced its comprehensive readiness to police and ensure the integrity of the upcoming provincial and national elections.

ProvJoints has implemented a robust plan to address any potential challenges and to ensure the safety of all voters, candidates and electoral officials on 29 May.

Personnel have been mobilised and strategically deployed. This includes the presence of uniformed officers at polling stations and critical points to ensure the safety and security of voters and the integrity of the electoral process. ProvJoints intelligence units are actively monitoring potential threats or disruptions that may affect the elections.

Engaging with communities and stakeholders is a cornerstone of the approach, with extensive awareness campaigns conducted to inform the public about the importance of peaceful elections and the role of law enforcement.

ProvJoints is working closely with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) and other relevant authorities to ensure a seamless and coordinated effort in managing the elections.

This includes crowd management, conflict resolution and emergency response protocols. They maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of electoral malpractice, including intimidation, violence and fraud. Offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

ProvJoints requests all citizens to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful and orderly manner and will ensure that every citizen can cast their vote in a safe and secure environment.
