A male foreign national (34) was arrested in Ficksburg after allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
The Ficksburg police and its Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit arrested and charged the man in Meqheleng, near Ficksburg.
On Friday (07/07), at about 12:00, it transpired that a 28-year-old woman who has supervision over her 13-year-old niece suspected that she had been sleeping with a foreign national who resides in the township.
The woman had confronted her niece about the relationship. The girl, in turn, denied it. The niece disappeared but was later caught with the suspect, admitting that she had slept with him several times.
The aunt took her niece to the local police station and opened a case of rape after an examination had been conducted by a doctor at the local hospital.
The suspect appeared in the Ficksburg Magistrates’ court on Monday (10/07), facing charges of rape.
