The SAPS Station Commander of Maokeng Kroonstad, the Social Crime Prevention Unit team and stakeholders that included Moqhaka Municipality, the Community Police Forum (CPF), and Lesedi la Sechaba visited the Dr. Reginald Cingo High School in Maokeng Kroonstad, for a crime awareness campaign.

On Monday the Maokeng Social Crime Prevention Co-ordinator, Sergeant Pulane Motsapole addressed the teachers and learners of the school explaining the affect crime has on the development and progress of learners at school.

Colonel Neo Mokhantso, the Maokeng Station Commander congratulated the 2022 matric’s of the school for obtaining a number one position in the final matric examination. In his address, he further reiterated the importance of learners abiding by the law and not finding themselves involved in criminal activities. He also highlighted issues such as bullying, the usage of drugs, and the carrying of dangerous weapons to school.

“It would be disappointing to see learners with a bright future and who have support from teachers destroying their lives due to peer pressure or involvement in criminal activities. Let us have the courage to do the right thing even when no one is looking and studying toward being successful individuals,” he concluded.

Officials handed crime prevention pamphlets to all learners and encouraged them to report a crime at their nearest police station or rather anonymously on the MySAPS App to help build a strong and crime-free community.
