Kroonstad is getting ready for its biggest festival yet: the KIA Makietie, which the town will play host to after winning the kykNET Kwêla dorp van die jaar competition.
All are also invited to the first ever Ignite and Revive Festival and the Trio Open Day, which will coincide with the KIA Makietie.
The festivities, scheduled to take place from 21 to 23 October, will be preceded by a gala dinner on Thursday, 20 October.
On the Friday, in conjunction with the Trio schools’ open day, a jam-packed programme can be expected.
On Saturday, local singers will contribute to the live entertainment offered in the arena by a star-studded line-up. Ruan Josh, Franja du Plessis, Bok van Blerk, Danny Smoke, Reën, Willem Botha, Kurt Darren and Refentse are billed to entertain all in attendance over the course of the weekend.
Famous actors Werner Coetser en Reze-Tiana Wessels of Diepe Waters, David Viviers en Luandri Reynders of Binnelanders, and Cedwyn Joel en Dean Smith known for their parts in Suidoosterwill act as the masters of ceremonies during the festivities.
A large agricultural exhibition, as well as a market with a variety of stalls, as well as children’s entertainment with Buster and Bella can be expected.
On Sunday, the weekend’s festivities will be concluded with praise and worship, and a service to give thanks. This event will be held on the Trio High School’s premises in Kroonstad.

The KIA Makietie will be filmed as part of the television exposure deal that Kroonstad won together with the title in the Kwêla dorp van die jaar competition.
