The body of an unknown man with a head wound and hands and feet tied has been found in a river on a farm in the Fouriesburg district.
On Saturday, 1 January, a resident of the farm Braamhof noticed the body in the river near the Motouleng Caves.
The Welkom Search and Rescue team investigated the matter and retrieved the deceased from the water.
Although the body was already decomposing, it was evident that the deceased had sustained multiple injuries in addition to his hands and feet being tied.
A case of murder was opened and is being investigated.
