A man (27) has been taken in for questioning regarding the rape and murder of a girl (8) from Lindley.
On 5 December, the Bethlehem Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit in this way started probing the murder after the body of the girl had been found.
When she left home the previous day, at about 12:00, the girl’s mother thought that she was playing with friends. Realising something was wrong when the girl did not come home that night, the mother informed the police and reported her child missing.
The next day at about 07:30, a passer-by noticed the body in a furrow in an open field behind a local church and summoned the police.
